Typically, Jake Paul's press conferences are filled with vitriol. The way his build had been brewing with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ahead of Saturday's DAZN pay-per-view event, Thursday's press conference had the same expectations as previous ones. While the Paul-Chavez presser was more subdued than usual, it still had moments that got the juices flowing.Â
At the beginning of the presser, Chavez had been introduced first by DAZN's Todd Grisham, followed by Paul. When Paul made his way onto the dais and surveyed the crowd, "The Problem Child" pulled a piece of paper from under his shirt, which read, 'I will be getting knocked out', and put the paper on the screen in front of Chavez. Paul mouthed something to the Mexican fighter and walked away.
Chavez motioned to someone to give him a shirt. He got up from his seat, grabbed a shirt from somebody and then ripped the sign off and put on Paul's side. Chavez showed the shirt which read, 'He's my dad' at the top and proceeded to say at the bottom read, 'And I'm your daddy'.
He put the shirt in Paul's face hoping for a reaction. But no dice as Paul walked back to his seat. Chavez handed Paul the shirt. Instead of accepting the gift, Paul whipped back at Chavez, who retorted and then the presser began.
