Since taking boxing seriously, Paul has featured in several major fights against some of combat sport’s biggest names including Nate Diaz and Mike Tyson.

Holding a positive record, his only loss a points setback against Tommy Fury, Paul is eager to prove himself against some of the world’s best boxers and he is in discussions to land a world title fight in the next 18 months.

This weekend, Paul returns to the ring, and he is set to have his hands full against former middleweight world champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Victory for Paul in a fight he begins as a significant favourite will prompt followers of the sport to demand tougher tests for the polarising Ohioan.

Could that be a world title shot at cruiserweight? That appears to be the plan.

“It could happen in the next 12 to 18 months for sure,” said Paul when discussing a potential world title shot exclusively with DAZN News

“It’s just about lining up with the WBA or WBC. We’re already in conversations with Badou [Jack] and Zurdo [Ramirez]. That’s the only goal now. That’s the only thing I haven’t accomplished in the sport of boxing.

“I’ve won knockout of the year, the most viewed fight ever. For me, the only thing left is to become world champion.”
