Jake Paul’s boxing ability has peaked, but the popular influencer will still have enough to beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr when the pair collide later this month

That is the verdict of Paulie Malignaggi, the former two-weight world champion who shared the ring with huge names such as Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan, and Ricky Hatton.

Now one of boxing’s sharpest analysts, Malignaggi has observed many great fights from ringside, and he has offered his thoughts on what will go down on June 28, live on DAZN

Last year, Paul went the distance against Mike Tyson in one of the biggest fights of 2024, but can he secure another win against another former world ruler

At his best, Chavez Jr was a formidable middleweight who became world champion in 2011.

Despite a downturn in recent form, including a shock loss to Anderson Silva in 2021, Chavez Jr has shared the ring with many elite operators including Sergio Martinez, Canelo Alvarez, and Danny Jacobs.

The Mexican star, son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez, has displayed some confidence in the build-up, but Malignaggi gives Paul the edge.

“This is a competitive fight because I thought Jake was improving for a little while, but I think for a fight or two, I've noticed he's regressed,” said Malignaggi when speaking to Spingenie.com

“I don't know if he's got the same dedication he had, because he's probably spread very thin. But I still think it's competitive as bad as Chavez Jr is.

“I think they wanted him to look good so that he could build up the Jake fight. But he sucks so bad that he couldn't do it. He's horrible. He has lost to Anderson Silva, so I wouldn't be surprised if he loses to Jake.”

Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will be streamed exclusively on DAZN PPV, Saturday, June 28. Buy the PPV now here.
