Jake Paul will look to start another knockout streak Saturday night when he clashes with former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and exclusively live on DAZN Pay-Per-View .

Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) is riding a five-fight win streak, having last defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in November 2024.

‘The Problem Child’ is vowing to stop former WBC middleweight world titleholder Chavez Jr (54-6-1 with 1 no contest, 34 KOs) who last defeated Uriah Hall in July.

Chavez Jr has taken offense over Paul, then 27, now 28, fighting a 58-year-old Tyson last fall and promises to give him a taste of sweet science like he has never seen before.

Here, DAZN News analyzes who has the edge between Paul and Chavez Jr. across several categories heading into their bout.

Boxing Styles

Jake Paul has shown the consistent ability to pepper opponents with the stab jab and split their guard enough to set them up for his devastating overhand right — a weapon that he hides well until it is detonated.

That style will be up against the veteran Julio Cesar Chavez Jr who works the body well with the ability to turn a blunt body shot into a whipping, glancing hook.

Chavez does this particularly well with his left hand and could test Paul with this attack.

While a lot of this style matchup is contingent on how spirited Chavez Jr fights, Paul has been the more active boxer and gets the edge here.

Power

'The Problem Child' counts seven of his 11 victories by the way of knockout as opposed to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s 34 of his 54 wins being delivered by stoppage.

Of note, though, is Chavez Jr who has not produced a knockout since November 2020 when he stopped Jeyson Minda inside of four rounds.

Prior to his fight with Tyson going to the scorecards, Paul recorded three straight knockouts.

Defense

Paul has a tendency to keep his guard around chest-level, making him vulnerable to whipping shots across the jaw — a weakness that Chavez Jr can exploit.

Chavez Jr, on the other hand, shows a higher, tighter guard, only abandoning it when targeting the body.

Experience

With 62 professional fights, Chavez Jr has fought more than five times the amount that Paul, with 12 bouts, has.

While he counts an experience edge, it is important to note that prior to stopping Uriah Hall in July, Chavez Jr’s last fight was way back in December 2021 when he delivered a unanimous decision over David Zegarra.

That signals major inactivity, though Chavez Jr’s experience includes bouts against the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Daniel Jacobs, Brian Vera, Sergio Martinez, Andy Lee, Marco Antonio Rubio and more.

Mental Warfare

What Paul lacks in experience, he makes up for in youth, exuberance and momentum.

Chavez Jr has often been maligned for a perceived lack of fire.

Whether he feels the need to meet the challenge that Paul presents remains to be seen and is somewhat of a wildcard entering this bout.

The pressure to deliver a victory resides more with Chavez Jr, a former world champion, than Paul, the YouTuber turned boxer.

Who has the edge in Paul vs Chavez?

One of the most intriguing questions entering this bout is: How motivated is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in training and preparing for Jake Paul?

His level of motivation — and sometimes lack of desire — has been called into question before and must again, especially considering he is 39.

If Chavez Jr takes Paul lightly, it is foreseeable that the YouTuber turned boxer is going to walk away with a victory.

However, Chavez Jr can make things interesting if he gets up for the stage and shows Paul why he is a former middleweight world champion.

Until then,  DAZN News   has the 3-2 edge going to Paul entering this fight.
