British boxing trainer Jamie Moore, a respected name in the sport, is against the comeback of legend Manny Pacquiao.

At 46 years old, Pacquiao is set to return to the ring on July 19 when he faces WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas

Pacquiao's comeback will generate a huge worldwide audience, but after being outclassed by WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas in 2021, there are some who feel this return against a younger and hungrier Barrios is a step too far and could tarnish the 46-year-old's legacy.

Speaking SpinBet, Moore could not help but express his concerns for Pacquiao as he prepares to return to the ring following a four year absence.

"I'll be honest with you; I'm not a big fan of the fact that Manny Pacquiao is fighting again," Moore said.

"I think he is one year younger than me and it’s a dangerous game at the best of times never mind when you’re 46 years old.

"I really don’t see Manny beating Mario Barrios, I just think he is way past his best and it’s a young man’s sport but if the unbelievable happened and Manny won."

While Moore is not too receptive to Pacquiao's comeback, there is a chance he could be preparing one of his fighters, Jack Catterall, to face the Filipino.

After losing to Arnold Barboza Jr in February, Catterall will make his welterweight debut on July 5 when he takes on Harlem Eubank live on DAZN, and with a win, Catterall could find himself in a position to challenge for a world title.

If Pacquaio does manage to beat Barrios, how does Moore feel about a Pacquiao-Catterall showdown?

"I would be really on the fence about it because ultimately, my number one objective would be to get Jack Catterall a world title but I wouldn’t feel comfortable going in there with someone like Manny Pacquiao because at the stage of his career now.

"He could get hurt and I wouldn’t want to be in the opposite corner when that potentially happened.

"It’s just a dangerous sport and Pacquiao is an absolute legend, I have the utmost respect for him hence the reason why if that scenario did unfold, I wouldn’t feel comfortable with this. But also, I want Jack to win a world title so it would be a hard position to be in."
