Benn’s shocking defection from Eddie Hearn to Dana White caught everybody by surprise and his first fight under his new promoters will come in April when he faces Regis Prograis on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Last year, Benn became a huge name in his native Britain when he featured in a two-fight series with Chris Eubank Jr where he lost the first fight but claimed revenge in an immediate rematch.
The battles came three years after Benn failed a drugs test before he was scheduled to face Eubank Jr and that testing period in his career saw him backed heavily by Matchroom and Hearn.
That dedication from his promoter has added to the drama in Benn’s recent switch, but with the move now confirmed, Benn will move on starting with Prograis on April 11.
Jarrell Miller, who has worked with Hearn in the past, has commented on Benn’s recent departure from Matchroom and he claims that the Englishman has had no impact in America where Zuffa are based.
He's not a big deal in America. Some people know who he is, but he's not somebody that people really bring up like that now,” said Miller when speaking with NewBettingOffers .
But he's big in the UK, so if you're thinking from a marketing standpoint, it's good for Zuffa Boxing to get people in the UK liking it, because I'm telling you right now, America's not feeling Zuffa Boxing after their first two events.
“The shows weren't that tight. They were very dull. Hopefully, they change something and make it more exciting. Let's see.”
