Johnny Fisher has promised there will be no niceties before his rematch with Dave Allen, conceding he was "too friendly" before their first bout last December.
The pair meet this weekend live on DAZN, as The Romford Bull takes on the White Rhino five months after the former edged a contentious points decision in Riyadh.
Fisher and Allen, former sparring partners, had enjoyed a civil build-up to a bout many expected the former to walk, only for him to be dropped in the fifth by his rival.
Now, the younger star has admitted he must shut off the emotional aspect of their relationship and focus purely on the basics as he seeks to prove himself once more.
"The build up to the fight, it was too friendly," he told during Matchroom’s The Final Build-Up. "It was too nice. I don’t really get myself up for it. I need to be a little bit colder.
Mark Robinson/Matchroom
"I’m fighting him. He’s my enemy. I can’t be as nice. When I’m in the ring I’m not nice and I’ve gotta harness that a little bit more. It means doing my job properly.
"My job is to win a boxing match. The bottom line is I’m a professional boxer I’ve always trained professionally, I’ve always trained hard but one thing or another gets in the way.
"Little one percents build up. You don’t take your eye off the ball because I’m a professional but little things can creep in. We’re stripping things back to where they need to be."
