Throughout his 13 years in professional boxing, New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker has faced a number of established names.
The former world champion has faced Anthony Joshua in a stadium fight, clashed with Derek Chisora in two brutal slugfests and beat knockout artist Deontay Wilder in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After retaining his WBO interim heavyweight with second round knockout against Martin Bakole, Oleksandr Usyk was in Parker's sights and after beating Daniel Dubois in July to become a two-time undisputed champion, it was presumed the New Zealander would be next for the pound-for-pound great.
Instead, with no official word on Usyk's next move, Parker is keeping active and will face the knockout machine Fabio Wardley on Saturday night, live on DAZN PPV.
This is a heavyweight contest which has huge ramifications for their respective careers, and Wardley presents a unique test for Parker and his preparations.
Coming from the White Collar scene, Wardley has not fought in the amateurs and with his notable performances coming over the last few years, there is very little for Parker and his trainer Andy Lee to analyse.
"When you have a fighter with all that experience, sometimes you can see what they’re going to do, you can sort of predict how they’re going to fight," Parker told Queensberry's Dev Sahni.
"You can’t predict him [Wardley]. The lack of amateur experience, he has developed his own style that’s not like anyone else."
Parker then had a final message for Wardley before locking horns at London's O2 Arena this weekend.
"I’ve just got to go in there and smash him and take care of business the way I know I can."
Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley fight this Saturday, October 25, to become the WBO mandatory challenger to Oleksandr Usyk. Watch the fight and undercard live and exclusive on DAZN PPV.
