A big fight goes down in January.

Callum Smith has climbed to the top of the boxing world before, and he has the chance to do it again when he faces Artur Beterbiev in January.

Smith will travel to Canada as he looks to become world champion in a second weight class, but he has it all to do against Beterbiev who currently holds a 100% stoppage record from his 19 fights.

Despite Smith possessing a considerable threat heading into the bout, the Liverpool man has been greeted by some in the boxing industry relishing the idea of Beterbiev against Dmitry Bivol in 2024.

Smith has every confidence that he can stop those plans and he believes some are being disrespectful as he prepares for his big clash.

“I don’t blame people for wanting to see Beterbiev-Bivol. As a boxing fan, that’s a fight that I would like to see,” said Smith when speaking to Boxing Social.

“It is a little disrespectful when there are people in boxing posting, and I’m due to fight him [Beterbiev] in January.”
