Maxi Hughes is keen to resurrect his rivalry with former unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr, but he insists that the right offer needs to be made.

Hughes was in action on Friday night on the undercard of Terri Harper's WBO women's lightweight defence against Natalie Zimmermann with Archie Sharp in the opposite corner.

However, this contest failed to live up to expectations with Hughes winning by unanimous decision and Sharp criticised for his negative gameplan.

In an interview with Boxing Social, Hughes admitted that it will be a fight which he will quickly forget and now has his sights set on facing a former rival in Kambosos Jr.

The pair clashed two years ago with Kambosos winning by majority decision, but it is a result which is frequently disputed and Hughes is keen for a rematch if the right offer is made.

"The offer has to be right, I’m not going to do it for peanuts," Hughes said.

"I would go to Australia to do it, but again the offer has to be right, if that offer’s right then it should be a fight that sells.

"It’s a bit more personal, I used to respect him. He won’t ever mention my name ever in any interview so surely that bothers him."

After his fight with Hughes, Kambosos suffered a stoppage loss to Vasiliy Lomachenko, and now the Australian finds himself challenging for another world title when he faces IBF super lightweight champion Richardson Hitchins later this year live on DAZN
