Moses advised to snub Gassiev for Sanchez in heavyweight rumble

Moses Itauma should bypass a battle with Murat Gassiev and target Frank Sanchez, says ex-cruiserweight star Johnny Nelson.

The former will face Filip Hrgovic this August in a heavyweight war at London's The O2, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View and Ultimate.

Victory against the Croatian however will put the star on a likely path to either WBA champion Gassiev or IBF contender Sanchez.

For Nelson though, the former test appears to be a trickier encounter at this point, telling talkSPORT the Britoin should steer clear.

"Gassiev is a good fighter," he said. "He boxed [Oleksandr] Usyk and caused him problems. He is a clever guy. I wouldn’t go there yet. 

Asked who he would rather see the star target as he seeks a path to a world title before the year is up, Nelson added: "Sanchez."

Moses has been ordered to a bout with the Cuban after the latter brutally turned over Richard Torrez Jr. inside two rounds in May.

Suggestions that the star could sidestep his impending test with Hrgovic however have been wide of the mark, per his own team.
