Itauma ready for late 2026 title shot as Warren eyes up Usyk

Moses Itauma could take a heavyweight world title shot "by the end of the year", with Frank Warren eyeing Oleksandr Usyk.

The Briton was in imperious form in March as he dismantled Jermaine Franklin to further underline his top-contender status.

Much has been made about a potential crack at a major belt for the star in 2026, with unified champion Usyk often mooted.

Now, Queensberry Promotions boss Warren has doubled down on the idea, admitting he would make the fight now if he could.

"Provided he keeps winning, he will fight for the world title by the end of the year," he told Sky Sports News. "I fancy that fight.

"I'll be honest, I fancy that fight right now, and I don't rush anyone. If we could make that fight [with Usyk], I'd make that now.

"He was brilliant [against Franklin]. His composure, his speed, his boxing brain, everything, his ability. He's got such fast hands.

"He gets shots from unconventional angles as well. The maturity he showed [in that bout] for a young fighter is unbelievable."

Will Itauma get 2026 title wish?

Frank Warren is a man who knows how to get things done, but even his powers may be tested in securing Moses Itauma's title shot.

The Briton has swept aside all foes so far, and has made it clear that hte wants the bigger fish in the heavyweight bond next up.

But it seems unlikely Oleksandr Usyk will accept the challenge, while Fabio Wardley has his own matters to attend to as well.

It will be fascinating to see how Itauma is placed across the rest of the year, as Warren continues to build his headline profile up.

A marquee clash will be a must. But just who will fit the bill remains to be seen as he prepares for his next test later in 2026.
