'Too fast and too fresh!' - British star backs Itauma-Hrgovic winner

Zayas vs. Ennis: Watch only on DAZN PPV - Saturday

Moses Itauma is "too fast and too fresh" for Filip Hrgovic, with Dave Allen backing the Briton for an early win when they meet.

The former will face the hard-hitting Croatian at London's The O2 Arena on August 29, on DAZN Pay-Per-View and Ultimate.

Having soared through the heavyweight ranks thus far, Itauma is hoping for a litmus test against the onetime Olympic hero.

Allen himself was retired in three rounds against Hrgovic last month, but on TikTok, the star admits he sees only one winner.

"I think it’s an amazing fight," he said. "You’ve got a proven world-class man against possibly the guy that’s going to be ‘the man’ for the next 15 years.

"Hrgovic is good, the real deal. He’s really good. But Itauma, I think, [is] too fast for him. Maybe too fast and too fresh. I think Itauma will win early."

Allen himself secured a return to winning ways against Ross McGuigan over the weekend and is now plotting his own next move.

It will not be on the undercard of Katie Taylor's Croke Park farewell however, with 'The White Rhino' declining an offer to feature.

Can Itauma make short work of Hrgovic?

Boxing's worst-kept secret was finally rubber-stamped last week - but already, there's talk about what comes next for Moses Itauma.

That seems oddly dismissive of Filip Hrgovic, a man whose professional record has seen him beat several major players thus far.

Yet there is undoubtedly a sense that Itauma's ascent to the summit of the heavyweight division feels like a formality at this stage.

If that proves to be the case indeed, then Hrgovic may prove to be just another body in the way of the Briton's rising ambitions.

The Croatian will hope to hand his foe a first loss, of course. But as Jermaine Franklin found out, it is not an easy road to take.
