Originally, Gassiev was set to face Tony Yoka. But Yoka pulled out of the fight on Friday due to a back injury. On Monday, it was announced that Kadiru would step up to the plate and accept the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Gassiev (33-2, 26 KOs) won the regular WBA belt in his last time out with a sixth-round knockout over Kubrat Pulev in December. He got elevated to full champion status after Oleksandr Usyk relinquished all his heavyweight titles.

Kadiru (23-1, 13 KOs) just competed on May 15, winning a decision over Senad Gashi.
