DAZN News Daily Round-Up - Mayweather's next fight, Major British fighter heading to Australia, and Ortiz vs Boots latest

DAZN
Barrios vs Garcia only on DAZN PPV - Feb 21

Several big names have made the news today. Let's look at who is dominating the headlines on Wednesday, February 4.

Floyd Mayweather's latest exhibition

Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition looks set to continue with the former world champion rumoured to face Mike Zambidis on June 27.

The retired star has remained active parttcipating in non-sanctioned fights and it appears his next test will come against the Greek kickboxer.

Mayweather had been speculated to be facing Mike Tyson at some piint in 2026, but those plans have since gone quiet with neither man seemingly committed to the contest.

Zambidis took to social media earlier this week to tease his fight with Mayweather, but an official announcement has still not been made.

Crocker to go on the road

Lewis Crocker likely won’t have Belfast as home advantage when he faces Liam Paro in the first defence of his IBF welterweight crown.

No Limit Boxing narrowly beat Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom when bidding to stage the show with America and Australia in the running to host it.

Crocker had been linked to several defence opponents with Connor Benn and Conah Walker in the frame, but the IBF have been strict appointing their mandatory challenger and Paro will now get his shot.

No Limit would ideally like to give their man the best possible chance of success by staging it in Australia, but a report from  BoxingScene  suggested the fight could land on the undercard of Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman in March.

Do Ennis and Ortiz take a step closer to fight?

Jaron Ennis remains confident that a huge showdown with Vergil Ortiz can happen next.

The pair have been linked to a contest for a lengthy period, and it appeared that a fight between the unbeaten pair would go down at some point in March.

Negotiations have not run smoothly with Ortiz insisting on a bigger percentage, but talks are still ongoing, and Ennis has delivered some hope for the potential blockbuster.

“I have high hopes. I think the fight is going to happen,” said Ennis when speaking at the recent The Ring Awards.

“Everyone stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed. It's not in my hands. I'm just waiting to see what's going on. Hopefully they sign on the dotted line so we can make the fight happen. Everyone knows that I want it next.”
