Usyk refuses to rule out Fury trilogy amid Wilder rumours

Oleksandr Usyk has not ruled out a trilogy bout with "greedy belly" Tyson Fury amid speculation over the star's farewell plans.

The Ukranian confirmed last month his plans to retire after a "last dance" following a May win against Rico Verhoeven in Giza.

Usyk's decision to vacate his unified heavyweight straps came amid rumours the veteran was eyeing up Deontay Wilder next.

Now, in an interview with the  Daily Mail , the three-time undisputed champion has suggested old foe Fury may be in the mix too.

"[The] last dance is [set for the] U.S.A, maybe in [a] New York stadium," he said. "It's a big name, 'Greedy Belly' and Deontay Wilder."

Usyk has long been pursued by Fury for a trilogy bout, having previously defeated the Briton twice in a gripping 2024 duology series.

Yet 'The Gypsy King' - who faces Mariusz Wach in Thailand this week - appears on course to face domestic rival Anthony Joshua next.

That would pave the way for Wilder, a major draw, to be lined up as Usyk's opponent, having last fought in April against Derek Chisora.

Is Fury trilogy a genuine promise?

Oleksandr Usyk's end game is in sight, and the rumour mill keeps tossing up names left, right and centre for his intended "last dance".

If Deontay Wilder remains in the hot seat though, the suggestion of a Tyson Fury trilogy appears to have caught a few folk off-guard.

It is not that a third bout would not offer the business between the two - it is more that, with other plans afoot, it would be a year out.

Usyk does not fight too frequently these days, but with at least one Anthony Joshua bout to come, Fury appears to be booked up now.

Throw in Usyk's hopes to conquer New York for his last dance, and it seems that Wilder is surely the obvious pick. But who knows?
