A career could be on the line on April 20.

Ryan Garcia appears to have put his career on the line for his upcoming fight against WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney.

The two American stars will meet on April 20 at New York's Barclays Center in what is set to be an unmissable contest.

Build-up for this fight began with a New York press conference on Tuesday where Haney and Garcia faced the world's media, and it caught fire with both men involved in heated verbal exchanges.

During the press conference, Bill Haney, Devin's father, issued an ultimatum to Garcia if the fight went a certain way which could have major implications for the latter's career.

"If you get knocked out in the first round, are you going to retire?," Haney said.

"I’ll give you my word," Garcia responded before shaking hands with the defending champion.

Garcia has been stopped just once in his professional career, and that was against Gervonta Davis when he went head-to-head with Garcia in Las Vegas last April.
