Shakur Stevenson gives blunt reply on Floyd Mayweather Jr. dance

Barrios vs Garcia only on DAZN PPV - Saturday

Floyd Mayweather Jr. announcing he will end his retirement and return to boxing following his spring exhibition against Mike Tyson opens the door for potential mega fights.

But a bout against Shakur Stevenson will not be one of them.

While talking live on DAZN PPV, inside T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Stevenson slammed the prospect of challenging Mayweather when asked if he’d entertain such a super bout with the boxing legend.

“Hell no,” Stevenson said. “Hell no. Understand this: I would not fight Floyd because I have watched him for years and years and years, and I look up to him. I don’t want to be in the ring with somebody that I look up to.

“And no disrespect, but he’s older now," Stevenson continued. "I’m not trying to punch on my GOAT.”

Three fight nights one weekend

Mayweather will turn 49 on February 24. At 28, the undefeated Stevenson delivered a near-shutout unanimous decision of Teofimo Lopez just last month to become the new WBO and The Ring super lightweight world champion.

Mayweather, the self-proclaimed TBE (The Best Ever), retired with a 50-0 record after defeating Conor McGregor in August 2017.

He has engaged in several exhibition fights over the years and is set to resume his boxing career after scrapping with Tyson in an exhibition, as reported by ESPN on Friday.
