Terence Crawford will go down as one of boxing’s greats, according to his former foe Amir Khan.
Crawford announced his shock retirement from the sport earlier this week, just three months after his stunning victory over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas.
The American stopped Khan in the 6th round when they met in 2019 but later became friends and the Brit heaped praise upon his former rival speaking to Ring Magazine on Thursday.
“Terence is such a legend in the sport of boxing and is always going to be remembered as one of the greats,” said Khan.
“I saw him two days ago in Dubai at the boxing event, at the IBA event, and never mentioned one little thing, and I was asking him who he’s going to fight next because I want to be there.
Khan trained with Crawford when coached by Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre for his last bout with Kell Brook and he holds the American in extremely high regard.
He added: “I’m a friend and I love boxing.
“I love seeing good boxing and obviously training alongside him for a long time and him taking the time out to come all the way to the mountains to train with me, that’s something that’s always going to stay with me.”
