Fury and Joshua tipped for farewell retirement by old foe Whyte

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could retire in the wake of their long-awaited heavyweight clash, according to Dillian Whyte.

The British duo came through their respective tune-tup tests with Mariusz Wach and Kristian Prenga intact last weekend.

Now, as eyes turn to a date and venue for the pair's much-hyped encounter, anticipation is growing towards a fever pitch.

But fellow heavyweight veteran Whyte believes the end of the road could be in sight for both men - sooner rather than later.

"I think they might both hang up their gloves after and then it'd be a sad day for boxing," he told Sky Sports News on the pair.

"Potentially both men could hang up their gloves after the fight. When it's done, they might say, listen, we've done everything."

Pressed further, Whyte added: "Tyson's won all the belts, 'AJ' [has] been a unified world champion, they might just say that's it."

Whyte himself is plotting his own comeback to the ring, almost a year on from a brutal one-round defeat against Moses Itauma.
