Usyk sets return and Navarrete unifies division: Five things we learned from boxing last week

DAZN
Ultimate Tier: PPVs & 185 fight nights included

Another week of blockbuster boxing news is in the rearviewmirror, with further shifts in the sport's landscape that will trickle into March.

February served up its fair share of shocks and surprises, with Ryan Garcia finally making good on his world championship promise.

Elsewhere, a new unified super-featherweight champion was crowned, while one of the sport's GOATs revealed his latest move too.

Here, DAZN News looks back at the week in boxing - and picks out five key stories worth revisiting as we head towards the spring.

Introducing DAZN Ultimate Tier

Usyk confirms return versus Verhoeven

Oleksandr Usyk will end a near-year-long absnce from the ring with the latest defence of his WBC heavyweight crown this May.

But rather than tackle another top-tier contender from the glamour division, the star will face kickboxer Rico Verhoeven instead.

The pair's crossover super-bout is set to take place at the Giza necropolis in Egypt, before the Great Pyramid, in a major clash.

Navarrete unifies against Nunez

Emanuel Navarrete stopped Eduardo Nunez late on in the pair's super-featherweight title bout to become the unified champion.

The WBO strap holder added the IBF crown to his collection in Arizona with a composed performance, laying down the gauntlet.

Ahead of Jazza Dickens' first WBA defence against Anto Cacace this month, it is a sign this busy division remains in rude health.

Benn books first Zuffa-era fight

Having split from Matchroom to join Dana White, Conor Benn has his first Zuffa-era fight booked against Regis Prograis in April.

The Briton will be the co-main event for Tyson Fury's comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Aiming to get back down to welterweight, Benn will instead contest this latest test at a catchweight three pounds above the limit.

Dubois snubs Wardley fist-bump

There weren't too many fireworks at Wednesday's launch for Fabio Wardley's WBO heavyweight title bout with Daniel Dubois.

But the ex-IBF champion raised eyebrows when he snubbed the strap holder's fist-bump on stage in London after their face-off.

Both men let their teams do plenty of the talking, but this all-British affair is already shaping up nicely for Manchester this May.

Crocker forced to postpone defence

Lewis Crocker's first IBF welterweight defence hit a roadblock after a hand injury forced the star to delay his upcoming bout.

An undated clash with Liam Paro was likely set for April in the latter's native Australia after his promoters won the purse bid.

Crocker, however, is out of action for the moment, with May expected to be in the frame, while Townsville could host the fight
