Rob Beckett compares heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois to a particular animal

Before tonight's huge fight at Wembley Stadium, DAZN News' Gareth Jones took in Daniel Dubois' sparring session with comic Rob Beckett, where the latter drew some curious comparisons to the animal kingdom.

 

Daniel Dubois is just days away from his attempt to become a history maker when, this Saturday night (July 19), he fights Oleksandr Usyk. Ahead of the big fight he has welcomed one Britain's top comedians Rob Beckett into his training camp.

A sellout crowd is expected at Wembley Stadium, London, as the UK hosts its first ever undisputed world heavyweight bout, as Dubois puts his IBF title on the line, with Usyk bringing to the ring his WBO, WBC, WBA belts.

If 'Dynamite' can defeat the Ukrainian great, he will become the first British fighter to be be crowned the undisputed world heavyweight champion in the four belt era, and the first undisputed king from the UK since Lennox Lewis over 20 years ago.

Ahead of the bout, fellow Londoner Beckett, a self confessed boxing nut, has experienced what it is like to go into the ring with the world champion in DAZN's special programme Beckett vs. Dubois.

At Dubois' 'The Farm' training facility, in the shadow of Wembley, The Rob & Romesh Vs... presenter and award winning comedian was put through his paces by trainer Don Charles, doing bag work and a CV session, before stepping into the ring for a sparring session with the champ.

Having survived that, just, Beckett explained what he experienced, likening the IBF world title holder to an apex predator.

"I felt like I was at the zoo and fell in the lion's enclosure, sat their waiting for death", Beckett told DAZN.

"His eyes change when he goes into the ring and into fight mode. It is instinct, he goes into a different place, in a zone. It is terrifying to witness that close up.

"We were chatting in the ring and he is a lovely bloke. Then we started to spa and there is clearly a switch that goes. You see his eyes change. He goes into shark mode and it is terrifying. He would have quite happily knocked me out.

"He hit me at just five per cent and it went right through me."
