Carl Froch has noticed the massive improvement in Daniel Dubois recently, but he does not believe that will be enough when he faces Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch this Saturday , live on DAZN .
Back in 2023, Dubois travelled to Poland as he looked to become heavyweight ruler against Usyk, but he was dropped twice before being stopped .
Despite that result, the setback has proven to be a springboard for Dubois and he has rebounded brilliantly in recent years to become IBF world champion.
On his way to that prestigious honour, Dubois registered several impressive stoppages including a fifth-round destruction of Anthony Joshua inside a sold-out Wembley Stadium last year .
Dubois returns to the same venue this weekend to face Usyk, and although several changes have been made on his oath to redemption, Froch does not think it will be enough.
The former super-middleweight champion, who headlined Wembley in 2014 against Geroge Groves, is now one of the most outspoken figures in boxing, and he has had his say on the heavyweight blockbuster.
"My prediction would always be to pick Usyk,” said Froch when speaking to Casino.co.uk .
"You have to look at previous form and what he's done. He was an exceptional amateur, winning a gold medal, and a former undisputed cruiserweight world champion.
"On top of that, he was undisputed at cruiserweight and now at heavyweight. Regardless of having all of the belts, he's beaten AJ twice, beaten Tyson Fury twice. They were the two best heavyweights before he joined the scene.
"Although Dubois is improving and growing in confidence, I still feel that Usyk has enough left. He hasn't shown any signs of decline. For 12 rounds, again, he put in high work rate, good reflexes, nice head movement and finished the fight strongly.
"I can't see Dubois beating Usyk. I'm not sure he has the speed or the skill. That being said, it's heavyweight boxing and he can punch really hard, so he'll always have an outside chance."
