WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez is hoping to one day secure a date with unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The Mexican is in action on the undercard of Jake Paul's fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr live on DAZN PPV, with mandatory challenger Yuniel Dorticos looking to upset the defending champion.

If Ramirez gets the win over Dorticos, then it's expected a unification bout will finally be made with Jai Opetaia, who holds the IBF belt, later this year.

While Ramirez has ambitions to become the undisputed champion at 200lbs, he is wanting to follow a path trodden by many cruiserweights of the past, including former undisputed titleholder Oleksandr Usyk and make the move to heavyweight.

After dominating the cruiserweight division, Usyk made the move to boxing's most popular weight division in 2019 where has since become an undisputed champion and will bid to achieve this honour for a second time against Daniel Dubois next month exclusively live on DAZN PPV.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of his fight with Dorticos, Ramirez had a beaming smile when discussing his future plans and desire to face Usyk who is a boxing legend.

"Maybe I’ll move up to heavyweight in two or three fights," Ramirez said.

"Usyk is my size, he's a champion, that's what I want too."
