Atletico Madrid will battle not only for domestic pride but for local bragging rights too when they head to the United States to contest at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Los Rojiblancos are one of two teams from La Liga flying the flag for Spanish football at the much-changed tournament - and the other is bitter rivals Real Madrid.
That gives an extra bit of motivation for Atletico, as they look to upstage their neighbours half the world away this summer in a hotly anticipated global tournament.
But just how did they seal their berth for the revamped Club World Cup, set to take place across the United States between June and July this year? DAZN has all the information.

Quarter-finalists twice in the past few years, the Spanish giants have sometimes struggled to translate their domestic success onto the continental stage.
Atletico Madrid have been drawn into Group B, alongside Botafogo (Brazil), Paris Saint-Germain (France) and Seattle Sounders (United States).
In order to reach the knockout stages, they must first successfully navigate this opening stage where the top two teams from each group will qualify.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will begin on Saturday, June 14 when Inter Miami takes on Al Ahly FC at Hard Rock Stadium with the final scheduled for Sunday, July 13 at MetLife Stadium.
In total 32 teams will be competing at the Club World Cup with all international federations represented.
Inter Miami have also been give a place at the tournament as a result of the United States being the hosts.
