Team news

Borussia Dortmund are level on points with Fluminense FC but sit second in Group F due to goal difference. Ulsan HD were eliminated from the Round of 16 after losses to Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Fluminense.

Dortmund will qualify for the knockout round as group winners if they defeat Ulsan and Fluminense fail to beat Mamelodi Sundowns. If Fluminense defeat Sundowns, Dortmund can still win the group by beating Ulsan and finishing above the Brazilian side on goal difference. Overall number of goals scored, fair play ranking and drawing of lots are the remaining tie-breakers.

Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac has said he is not planning for much line-up rotation, but the Bundesliga side won't have two of their wingers. Jamie Gittens is out due to illness, and Gio Reyna recovered from illness but did not train over the last two days.

Who can qualify for the knockout phase?

What they said...

"We have an important game ahead of us. We’re not through yet. We’ve been warned because we've analysed our opponent thoroughly. We're not expecting a high-tempo game. They'll sit very deep, sometimes with six players in the back. They'll be looking for their chances on the counter, so we have to be extremely careful. We don't want to make those small mistakes again that put us on the back foot."
Niko Kovac, Dortmund coach

"I think we really need a good performance now. We've had good moments in our games so far, but not that consistency over the full 90 minutes. So hopefully we can do that [against Ulsan]. Our positioning has to be better. We know that Ulsan has a lot of energy and they're very dangerous on the counter. We've also looked at some tactical aspects — I won’t share everything here — but I believe we have to be ready for a tough match."
Felix Nmecha, Dortmund midfielder

"Dortmund have excellent quality. Looking at their physical strength, speed, and technical ability, as well as their tactical structure, they are clearly still a top-class European side. Even their individual players are continuously improving."
Kim Pangon, Ulsan head coach

"We're going to do our best to try to win the game for our own, for us, for the confidence in the group. We're going to try to win for the fans in Korea that are watching. I think we have to be better overall. But it's been difficult. We play against really good teams. They are better. They take better decisions with the ball. Of course, we have some steps to take to be on that level. But I still think we all can learn from every game that we played so far."
Darijan Bojanic, Ulsan midfielder

"Unfortunately, things didn't go the way we had planned. But I hope that both myself and the team can play an excellent match, that we can give our best to make our fans proud, to make our families proud. And also ourselves, because we know our potential, we know what we could have shown in this competition. But unfortunately, things didn't happen that way. It's a very difficult tournament [but] we knew that. But now, we'll try to give everything in this last match, try to surprise Borussia so we can at least finish the competition with three points."
Erick Farias, Ulsan striker

The USA men's first visit to the venue came in November 2021, when they recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over Mexico in FIFA World Cup qualifying for Qatar 2022. MLS side FC Cincinnati play their home fixtures here, while the USA women have enjoyed two goal-laden outings with victories over Paraguay (8-0) and South Africa (3-0) in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
