Matchday 5 of the 2025-26 Champions League has come to a close after a thrilling set of matches on Wednesday.
Included in the day's action is a statement victory by Arsenal, another demoralizing loss for Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain reminding Tottenham of the pecking order among Europe's elite.
Here are some of the bigger talking points from Wednesday's Champions League action.
Another day, another Liverpool loss.
This one comes at the hands of PSV Eindhoven, who stormed into Anfield and claimed a 4-1 victory over the struggling Reds.
That makes it back-to-back three-goal losses at home for Arne Slot's men, and three straight defeats overall by three goals apiece. The fall-off has been so sudden and so complete that these results still seem shocking even though they are now the norm for the reigning Premier League champions.
Wednesday's loss comes despite Liverpool holding a 24-9 shot advantage, showing that PSV were clinical when presented with their chances, while the Reds were once again clueless in front of goal.
For as poor as Liverpool has been, the Gunners have been the opposite.
The North London side just keeps winning, with their latest conquest a 3-1 victory over visiting Bayern Munich.
The match itself was an even affair through the first 45 minutes, when it was 1-1 thanks to goals from Arsenal's Jurrien Timber and Bayern's teenage sensation Lennart Karl. But the game was completely one-sided in the English team's favour throughout the second half, with Arsenal forcing legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer into several saves amid waves of attack.
Neuer couldn't stop them all, and Arsenal's true weapon — their insane depth — made all the difference as substitutes Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli scored the two second-half goals.
The win was Arsenal's first over the German giants in six tries, and left the Gunners as the lone undefeated team in this season's Champions League.
The other North London club involved in the Champions League — Tottenham Hotspur — may have thought they were on the way to their own famous victory, but they squandered two separate leads in what ended up as a 5-3 win for PSG in Paris.
Spurs are fresh off their humbling derby loss to Arsenal over the weekend, but showed no fear in the face of the Parisians, scoring the first goal of the game and then taking a 2-1 lead at the 50th minute thanks to goals from Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani (x2), respectively.
However, there's a reason why PSG are the defending champions of this competition, and their class showed with a flood of second-half goals to secure the win.
It wasn't all roses for the French club though, as Lucas Hernandez was sent off in stoppage time and will miss PSG's next match.
