Antoine Semenyo's superb finish delivered Manchester City a domestic double to celebrate after their FA Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

Pep Guardiola's men roared back from last year's trophyless season to complete a clean sweep of domestic knockout honours with a taut 1-0 win on Saturday.

Victory for the Premier League heavyweights could yet tee up an almighty treble too if Arsenal slip up in the final week of a close-fought top-flight season too.

But the Sky Blues saw this latest piece of the puzzle answered by the cheekiest of flicks from Semenyo, finishing off a wonderfully intricate move to net the matchwinner.

The goal was perhaps the fitting confirmation for the Ghanian who has become one of the key men in City's push for silverware since singing for the club in January.

Right man, right time

The goal was Semenyo's tenth for City since arriving from Bournemouth in January.

At the time, Guardiola's men were still trailing Arsenal in the title race, but had suffered an indifferent first half of the campaign with many believing this would be a transitional term for the club.

Equally, there were doubts whether their new attacking option could make the step up, despite being the Premier League's outstanding player, thanks to his displays with the Cherries.

However, those doubts were quickly quashed. Sememyo scored on his debut against Exeter in the FA Cup, and then helped City through to the League Cup final with a goal against Newcastle in the semi-final first leg.

Now, he's reached double figures just in time to hand his latest employers the FA Cup and secure the biggest moment of his career to date.

It's not just his goals, however, but his electric displays have taken the burden off some of City's other attackers, and also given the frontline and zip that it had been missing, even with the energetic performances from Jeremy Doku.

A title boost?

Yet, as Semenyo celebrated the FA Cup win, thanks to his goal, will the victory mean even more in a week or so if he gives him and the club the final fuel to really usurp Arsenal in the title race?

Just as the Gunners felt a huge boost from their controversial win against West Ham last weekend, this FA Cup triumph, secured from the boot of Semenyo, could be the catalyst for one final push.

They'll need a favour from Burnley or Crystal Palace in the process, but after another celebratory day in the dynasty of Pep Guardiola, could you really rule them out, especially with their attack being led by a man who's been the signing of the season.
