Chelsea have preserved their first-half lead against Fluminense in their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup semi-final after VAR intervened to overturn a penalty call against Trevoh Chalobah.
The Blues lead inside the first quarter thanks to a superb goal from Joao Pedro, but looked poised to potentially be pegged back by the spot after a cross hit the England man's arm.
Referee François Letexier originally awarded a penalty, but was instructed to refer his decision by video assistant referee Nicolás Gallo on the monitors before it could be taken.
After a brief consultation, the former chalked off his decision, deeming that Chalobah's arm was in a natural position and could not be penalised, leaving Fluminense's players fuming.
