'He's managed to turn it around!' - Dwight Yorke raises Ruben Amorim questions amid David Moyes success

Dwight Yorke has suggested former Manchester United boss David Moyes is a superior manager to current boss Ruben Amorim as the Red Devils continue to struggle.

The Portuguese man succeeded Erik ten Hag in November after a rough start to the 2024-25 Premier League season at Old Trafford, but has so far failed to turn matters around.

A lacklustre transfer window that saw the departure of the exiled Marcus Rashford on loan to Aston Villa has not further helped Amorim, who has just 10 wins in 23 games.

Meanwhile, ex-gaffer Moyes has returned to old club Everton and guided them to a seven-game unbeaten streak to bolster their survival chances following Sean Dyche's exit.

For Yorke, a treble winner with United during the 1998-1999 campaign, the contrast between the two speaks volumes to him in regards to the quality of both appointments.

"I do believe that despite the challenges of where United are, as a manager, you've got to stabilize the club," he told casinobeats. "You've still got to win football matches.

"No-one will say go beat Liverpool, City, Arsenal. When Brentford, Crystal Palace, Brighton beat you, you’ve got to ask yourself some questions.

"How could David Moyes go to a team that was struggling more than United and suddenly turn that around? I’m not saying that Amorim’s not a good manager.

"We're not asking you to beat Liverpool, we're not asking you to beat Arsenal. All we're saying is, just win some football matches against teams that you should be beating.

"If you're not going to win against the big boys, and you're not going to start winning against the small boys, when are you going to start?

"Moyes has done well at Everton but certainly we've got better players at United. Somehow, he's managed to turn it around while we continue to struggle."
