Much was made of Harry Kane’s painstaking pursuit of a first major trophy in his long and distinguished career but, having finally won one, could he soon be celebrating a second?
The England captain was hugely instrumental in Bayern Munich’s 2024-25 Bundesliga title success during Vincent Kompany’s first season in charge.
Kane lost out in Premier League title races, a Champions League final and League Cup finals during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, as well as two Euros Finals with England.
He was mocked by rival supporters, especially Arsenal fans, for failing to win silverware. So, winning a major honour at long last, aged 31, was greeted with monumental relief.
Now Kane is aiming to help Bayern go all the way in the FIFA Club World Cup, where every game is free and live on DAZN.
The Bavarian giants face UEFA Champions League winners Paris St-Germain on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the biggest and most lucrative Club World Cup in history.

It is a tantalising fixture between two European heavyweights and, while PSG will start as slight favourites, Bayern boast one of the world’s greatest strikers in Kane.
Crucially, he is in fine form too, scoring twice in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Flamengo in the Round of 16, maintaining his hugely prolific strike rate for the German giants.
“Another tough game,” Kane said of this weekend’s showdown with Luis Enrique’s side.
“PSG had an amazing season. We played them earlier in the season and won.
“It will be difficult but we know we can beat anyone when we’re at our level. We’ll recover now and then give it our all.”

It is hard not to feel that Kane deserves to finish his career with more trophies than the Bundesliga title he won last month.
The individual awards have never been in short supply for Kane following his hugely prolific career for club and country.
He won three Premier League Golden Boots and the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup.
But lifting major trophies as part of a team was something he had so desperately craved.
So the joy and relief when finally getting that monkey off his back last month was written large on Kane’s face.
He had played 694 games before finally getting his hands on major silverware in his second season at Bayern.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Kane said on May 10 after scoring in a 2-0 home win over Borussia Monchengladbach before beer-fuelled celebrations with team-mates at the Allianz Arena.

“It means more than any of the goalscoring awards, for sure. There’s no secret that there has been this one thing that has been missing from my resume.
“It was a weight on my shoulders and now it’s been lifted.”
The question now is whether Bayern can overcome a stellar PSG side and move into the semi-finals where they could face mighty Real Madrid.
As Kane referenced, Bayern have already overcome the aristocratic French side in recent times, beating them 1-0 in Munich in the Champions League last November.
Bayern have an impressive record against PSG, although will count for little when the sides meet in Atlanta this weekend.
Should Kompany’s men prevail, it would encourage hopes they can go all the way and become Club World Cup champions.
For a player as selfless as Kane, after finally ending so many barren years, no-one would deserve it more.
