England vs. Argentina preview: Team news and how to watch World Cup match
One of international football's biggest rivalries will be renewed on Wednesday as England and Argentina are set to clash in the World Cup semi-finals in Atlanta.
England have had survived a pair of intense games in their last two matches, getting past co-hosts Mexico in a wild match at the Azteca in the round of 16 before being pushed by Norway in the quarters. Jude Bellingham was the hero in both of those matches, scoring two goals each in back-to-back games to lead his side to their first World Cup semi-final since 2018.
Meanwhile, it's been the Lionel Messi show for Argentina as their 39-year-old icon has turned back the clock and delivered goals and assists for La Albiceleste. However, the South American giants have also been challenged throughout the knockout stage, requiring 120 minutes to defeat Cabo Verde in the round of 32 before needing a comeback for the ages to overcome Egypt in the last-16.
The Argentines were again pushed to extra time in the quarters, with Switzerland the latest opponent to take Messi and Co. the distance, and now Argentina must battle fatigue as they prepare for the toughest team they've faced so far in this World Cup.
