France launched their World Cup campaign with a 3-1 victory over Senegal , but only after weathering a first half where the African side squandered clear chances. Kylian Mbappé shook off a subdued opening 45 minutes to score twice, including the late sealer at 90+6', while Michael Olise pulled the strings with two assists.

Edouard Mendy made exceptional saves to keep Senegal competitive, but Nicolas Jackson and Ismaïla Sarr's wasteful finishing ultimately proved costly.

Michael Olise was France's most influential attacker, delivering the passes that decided the match. His through ball set up Kylian Mbappé's opener at 66', then he provided another assist for Mbappé's late sealer at 90+6'.

Earlier, Olise beat Kalidou Koulibaly inside the box and forced Edouard Mendy into an exceptional one-on-one save at 53'. His vision and execution consistently unlocked Senegal's defensive structure.
