The Champions League is back tonight with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City under pressure to bounce back after dismal defeats at the weekend.
Spurs boss Thomas Frank’s position is coming under intense scrutiny as his men prepare to host Borussia Dortmund and Pep Guardiola takes City to Bodo/Glimt on the back of a 2-0 loss in the Manchester derby.
Here, DAZN News reporter Ross Heppenstall assesses five key talking points ahead of Tuesday’s action in the Champions League Matchday 7.
Shockingly, Tottenham slumped to their sixth home Premier League defeat of the season on Saturday as struggling derby rivals West Ham beat them 2-1.
The dramatic win for the Hammers – secured by Callum Wilson’s late goal – prompted a cascade of boos from the Spurs faithful and increased the scrutiny on Thomas Frank.
At the final whistle, thousands of home fans chanted ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning!’ as the Dane headed down the tunnel.
It was further proof that much of the faith in Frank amongst the fanbase has long since disappeared, but it is not all doom and gloom.
In the Champions League, Frank has Spurs sitting in 11th place – just a point off the top eight ahead of Tuesday’s visit of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
As he clings desperately to his job amid speculation Spurs have lined up Xabi Alonso as his successor, the outcome of the Dortmund clash could be huge in determining Frank’s future.
Getty ImagesIt was difficult to remember Manchester City performing as badly in such a big game as they did during Saturday’s Manchester derby.
Manchester United, playing under interim boss Michael Carrick for the first time, won 2-0, but the scoreline barely began to do justice to their superiority.
City were awful, and the sight of Erling Haaland being hooked with 10 minutes remaining was a curious one.
The giant Norwegian striker was utterly dominated by Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez, but City were poor all over the pitch.
One noble exception was goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose saves kept the scoreline respectable, and the pressure is on Pep Guardiola’s men to bounce back at Bodo/Glimt.
City are fourth in the Champions League and anything less than victory in Norway is simply unthinkable.

DAZN News has all the information heading into Matchday 7.
Arsenal’s progress in this season’s Champions League has been serene and they are the only side who boast a 100% winning record after six games.
Top of the Premier League and looking a decent bet to become champions of England for the first time in 22 years, Mikel Arteta’s men also look capable of going deep in Europe.
Their trip to Italy to take on Inter Milan is a significant test, though, and perhaps their greatest challenge yet in their Champions League campaign.
Inter lie sixth in the table and showed their pedigree by reaching last season’s final, only to be hammered 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain.
Significantly, however, Cristian Chivu’s men are top of Serie A and will be keen to reassert their European credentials after successive losses to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool last time out.

Turmoil has reigned at Real Madrid in recent days with Xabi Alonso ushered out of the door and replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa.
On Saturday, though, second-half goals from Kylian Mbappe and Raul Asencio helped the 15-time European champions seal a 2-0 victory over Levante to cap a tumultuous week.
That left them just a point behind leaders Barcelona as the La Liga title race hots up, but now attention turns back to a competition with which Los Blancos have a long-established love affair with.
Madrid are seventh in the Champions League heading into their home clash with 19th-placed Monaco, where victory would move Arbeloa’s men closer to a top-eight finish.

Memories of Paris Saint-Germain’s stunning 5-0 annihilation of Inter Milan in last season’s Champions League final remain fresh.
It was a tumultuous night in Munich as the Parisian giants were crowned European champions for the first time.
Could they go all the way again? Luis Enrique’s men are third in the Champions League table after six games and now travel to Sporting Club.
Sporting are 14th in the standings but just two points adrift of the top eight with two games remaining.
