The match

Inter Milan and River Plate continue their FIFA Club World Cup journey with what promises to be a pivotal encounter at Lumen Field in Seattle. Thanks to their strong performances over the four-year qualification period (2021-2024), Internazionale punched their ticket to the Club World Cup via the UEFA ranking pathway. River also booked their place via the ranking pathway. The Argentinians previously faced Internazionale in a friendly in Milan in 1961, with the game in front of 75,000 fans ending in a 1-1 draw. Players who have turned out for both clubs include Esteban Cambiasso, Matias Almeyda, Gabriel Batistuta and Hernan Crespo.

Seattle Sounders will play all three group-stage games at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ at Lumen Field and their home stadium will host six matches in total. The beautiful game will return in 2026, with the stadium selected for FIFA World Cup 26™, with four group-stage matches – which include USA’s second Group D meeting, a Round of 32 tie and a Round of 16 contest.
