Juventus closing in on transfer target hours after Club World Cup elimination

A day after losing to Real Madrid 1-0 in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Juventus are already looking ahead to the impending domestic and European campaign.

The Bianconeri are closing in on their first big transfer target as they fully transition into the Igor Tudor era, and the Croatian manager is looking to North America for his first post-Club World Cup signing.

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, former Lille striker Jonathan David is nearing a move to the Serie A giants. David is out of contract after five years at Lille, where he became a club legend for his goal scoring exploits.

The Canadian, who leads his national team's all-time scoring list, holds Lille's record for most goals in European competition with 13 after a stellar 2024-25 Champions League campaign that included goals against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Juventus. In total, David scored 109 times for Les Dogues in 232 appearances, with the 25-year-old scoring 25 or more goals in each of the last three season for the Ligue 1 side.
