The name of National League side Altrincham will be spread across the Basque Country later this month, thanks to Athletic Bilbao's plans to support Non-League Day.

Altrincham are one of six non-league clubs the La Liga side is supporting as part of their 2025 Non-League Day celebrations, along with Bromsgrove Sporting, Evesham United, Sheppey United, Steyning Town and Witton Albion - all of which share the same red and white striped kit design as their Spanish counterparts.

The Basque giants' history can be traced back to English roots, with migrant ship workers from Sunderland and Southampton at the fore when the club came into existence at the turn of the 20th century. Although it's never been confirmed which side is responsible for their famous red and white stripes.

As part of the celebrations, Athletic have donated one men’s jersey and one women’s jersey to each team, which they can raffle off at the respective Non-League days in March.

In addition, the Spaniards will publish a series of articles about each of the clubs involved, meaning exposure across the region for the Non-League clubs.
