'It was clear we couldn't lose this game' - Liverpool manager Arne Slot 'proud' after Liverpool win Premier League

'It was clear we couldn't lose this game' - Liverpool manager Arne Slot 'proud' after Liverpool win Premier LeagueDAZN

Liverpool entered Sunday's match against visiting Tottenham Hotspur needing just a draw to secure the Premier League title, but they were confident that they would "find a way to win."

They did just that as the Reds came back from an early deficit to defeat Spurs 5-1, brushing aside Dominick Solanke's 12th-minute goal for the visitors and striking back in force, with Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all putting their names on the scoresheet alongside a late Destiny Udogie own goal as the party started at Anfield at some point late in the first half and continued well past the final whistle.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who led the club to the title in his first season in charge, revealed after the match that the players were brimming with confidence prior to kick-off, with the prevailing feeling that only a victory was in the cards on Sunday.

"It was clear we couldn't lose this game," Slot told the Anfield crowd. "Everyone on the bus said there's no way we're going to lose this game.

"They always find a way to win."

Slot lauded the players and included all employees of the club as deserving of "a big round of applause" as Liverpool secured their second league crown in five years.

Additionally, the 46-year-old lauded the Anfield faithful for supporting the team during a season of transition.

"It is difficult to put into words," he told Sky Sports. "The scenes here and before the game tells you more than I can describe.

"[The fans being here] is what makes it special. Three or four years ago they won the league. It was an amazing accomplishment, but the fans weren't there. So you can feel how important it was for them to be here. And the boys did an outstanding job today, including our fans."
