The Citizens created history by winning English football's top flight in four successive seasons between 2021 and 2024 before being dethroned by rivals Liverpool during the 2024-25 campaign.
They also lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace to campaign the season without a trophy for the first time in seven seasons under Pep Guardiola.
Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola's side finished third in the Premier League to secure qualification for the Champions League and ensure they head Stateside for the Club World Cup on a high.
They were last in action on May 25, when they won 2-0 at Fulham to end a turbulent campaign on a high.
City's squad includes four new players signed in time to take part in the month-long tournament in the United States: Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli.
Previous XI : Ederson, Gvardiol, Dias, Akanji, Nunes, Gundogan, Silva, Doku, Marmoush, Gonzalez, Haaland
Wydad finished third in the Botola Pro 1 league and are one of only three teams never to have been relegated from the Moroccan top flight.
Coach Rhulani Mokwena recently parted ways with the Moroccan club after a difficult season that saw mixed results and mounting pressure.
They are expected to struggle in a group which includes City, Al Ain and Juventus.
Wydad's most recent game was a 1-0 friendly defeat at the hands of Porto.
Previous XI : Motie, Boucheta, Boutouil, Harkass, Moufid, Zemraoui, Moubarik, Amarabat, Rayhi, Lorch, Obeng

There is no denying that Manchester City will be clear favourites to get their campaign off to a winning start with victory over unfancied Wydad.
Pep Guardiola has a deep squad which is blessed with supreme talent in every department, so their Moroccan opponents may struggle to cope.
It is difficult to see anything other than a comfortable win for the Premier League side.
Prediction: Manchester City 4-0 Wydad
