Sunday's Manchester City vs. Liverpool match was expected to be a clash of heavyweights, but only City looked the part as they won 3-0 at the Etihad.
In what was Pep Guardiola's 1000th game as a manager, the Sky Blues executed their boss' plans to perfection as they ran all over the visiting Reds, with Erling Haaland, Nico Gonzalez and Jeremy Doku all scoring for the home side.
"My players gave me a good present with this performance against the champions," Guardiola told Sky Sports. "We had to perform good and many good things happened, they all performed to the highest level."
The result pulled Man City a bit closer to league leaders Arsenal, who drew 2-2 at Sunderland yesterday and now hold a four-point advantage at the top of the Premier League table.
For Ruben Dias, who played the full 90 minutes in central defence for the victors, the performance was especially pleasing given the standard of the opposition, and he was happy to help deliver a win for Guardiola's landmark match.
"Obviously very happy for him," Dias told Sky Sports. "We live for games like this. There is no higher level than this kind of level.
"Everyone did a great game."
After an adjustment period at the beginning of the campaign as Guardiola reshaped the squad over the summer, Dias believes Man City are starting to show their true quality.
The club are now on a four-match win streak across all competitons, and Dias says that the commitment to getting all the little things right are what sets them apart from most other sides.
The job's far from over, however.
"I remember before I came to this club and watching this club - these were the details that made them win so much," Dias said.
"Differences of everyone ready to show up and ready to sacrifice for the guy next to him.
"This is not new, this has been going on for a while now. We have been talking about a rebuild since last season.
"Yes, of course, there are new faces because of the ones that left, but that quality stays the same, and we keep on pushing.
"It is still early in the season, [we keep our] feet on the ground."
