Monterrey vs Inter Milan will take place at the Rose Bowl. The venerable stadium just outside of Los Angeles has hosted the 1994 FIFA World Cup final, the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup final and the championship match in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Built in 1922, the Rose Bowl is the biggest venue by seating capacity of the 12 that are hosting games in the Club World Cup. The 88,500-seat stadium will host six group stage matches, including a Group B clash between PSG and Atletico Madrid.
The Mexicans recently announced the departure of Martín Demichelis as head coach after their Clausura 2025 title hopes were dashed in a dramatic quarterfinal elimination at the hands of Toluca in early May.
The early playoff exit had intensified scrutiny on Demichelis and he departed ahead of the Club World Cup.
They have since appointed Domènec Torrent as their new head coach with him having previously served as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City.
Previous XI : Andrada, Chavez, Medina, Guzman, Arteaga, Rodriguez, Ambriz, Deossa, Canales, Fimbres, Berterame
Inter were pipped to the Serie A title by a point by Napoli during a season which saw them also reach the final of the UEFA Champions League.
However, the Italian giants were thrashed 5-0 by Paris St-Germain in the decider in Munich as the French side recorded the biggest-ever win in a European Cup final.
Coach Simone Inzaghi then left Inter and was appointed as manager of Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal before the Serie A club unveiled former Parma boss Cristian Chivu as his successor.
Inter will be favourites for the group, given their European pedigree and the depth of talent within their ranks.
Previous XI : Sommer, Acerbi, Pavard, Bastoni, Mkhitaryan, Calhanoglu, Dimarco, Barella, Dumfries, Thuram, Martinez
Odds courtesy of DAZN Bet and correct as of 9:00 on Tuesday, 17 June.
Both teams will look to make a statement in their opening game, but it is hard to look past an Inter Milan victory.
New boss Cristian Chivu will be keen to hit the ground running after taking the reins and his men may well fancy their chances of going all the way in the tournament.
The Italian giants should have enough quality within their ranks to see of the challenge of Monterrey.
Prediction: Monterrey 1-2 Inter Milan
