Nottingham Forest lost ground in the Premier League title race on Saturday as they fell 2-1 at Fulham.
Forest were second-best in almost all statistical categories of the match, including shots and possession, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo conceded that the stats did not lie as the Cottagers enjoyed a match against a sub-par version of the side that has been a force in the Premier League all season long.
"Did we see the best of Forest today? No. I think we could be better," Espirito Santo told Sky Sports. "I think we lost the small battles in the game, when the ball was bouncing we didn't win the duels. Overall not the best performance.
"We knew they were dangerous from wide areas, with crosses, and the idea was to have an extra body to control those situations. The players should have made contact with the ball, and solved it. It was duels, fouls, and the flow of the game was not there for us. We have been working well, but we have to go better, and finish the season in a good way."
Currently in third place, the result means that Forest are further behind second-place Arsenal, who won on Saturday, and could lose ground on league-leading Liverpool, who are in action against Wolves on Sunday.
