Has one league ever won all three European trophies in the same season?

After a big week of European action, we now know who will face off in each of UEFA's competitions in 2026. 

Each semi-final brought its own narrative and slice of drama, but the one thing that did transpire was that an English side will compete in all three of the European finals. 

Aston Villa overcame Nottingham Forest to reach the final of the Europa League, as they look to win their first major trophy since 1996 when they take on Friberg in Istanbul, while Crystal Palace will make club history once again as they take on Rayo Vallecano in the Europa Conference League showpiece, their first-ever continental final.

Then there's Arsenal, who return to the Champions League's grandest stage for the first time in twenty years as they take on PSG, looking to be crowned European champions for the first time. 

If all three are victorious, it would see a clean sweep of Europe for one nation - but has this ever been done before?

Has one league won all three European trophies in the same season?

The unusual feat would see the Premier League trio take home each of UEFA's current major European trophies: the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League. 

No league has ever won those three trophies in the same season, but you have to factor in that the Conference League is still only in its fifth season. 

However, if you go back to UEFA's original three European competitions, i.e., the European Cup, UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup, then the league 'treble' has been done on one occasion. 

And, it will come as little surprise that it was Italy's Serie A that achieved the feat back it's heyday of the early 1990s. 


In the 1989-90 season, the all-conquering Milan side won the European Cup by beating Benfica, Sampdoria bagged the Cup Winners Cup, overcoming Anderlecht, and Juventus beat fellow Serie A side Fiorentina to complete the set and win the UEFA Cup. 

So, can Arsenal reach the summit of European football? Can Unai Emery win a fifth Europa League of his career at Villa? And, can the Eagles make it three English wins out of five in the Europa Conference League?
