Football kicks off across Europe shortly, with most leagues beginning their new campaigns in August or September.
The Premier League is no different, with the first match set for Aug. 15 between Liverpool and Bournemouth. Several clubs will also be gearing up for continental competitions as the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League have already begun their qualification play.
Here are the English sides involved in continental tournaments in the upcoming season.
As the top-ranked association in UEFA's coefficient system, England will have six teams in the league phase of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.
The top four finishers from the 2024-25 Premier League season (Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea) qualified for the UCL by their league position. Tottenham Hotspur qualified by winning the 2024-25 Europa League. Newcastle qualified by finishing fifth in the Premier League, as England were allocated an extra UCL berth due to the country's coefficient.
As the top-ranked association in UEFA's coefficient system, England will have two teams in the league phase of the 2025-26 UEFA Europa League.
Aston Villa qualified for the UEL by finishing sixth in the 2024-25 Premier League season. Nottingham Forest qualified as the club with the highest league position that hadn't already secured a Champions League or Europa League berth, after Crystal Palace (2024-25 FA Cup winners) were deemed ineligible due to UEFA's multi-club ownership rules.
As the top-ranked association in UEFA's coefficient system, England will have one team in the play-off round of the 2025-26 UEFA Conference League.
Crystal Palace qualified for the Europa League as FA Cup winners, but were deemed ineligible by UEFA due to sharing ownership with Olympique Lyonnais (who also qualified for the UEL). Palace were then placed in the Conference League, and they will learn their play-offs opponents on Aug. 4.
