Premier League preview: London Stadium hosts headline act at both ends of the table

With just three rounds of the season to go, the title momentum took a huge swing in Arsenal's favour on Monday night as Manchester City dropped vital points in their draw with Everton. 

Both are back in action once again this weekend, with the Gunners playing their role in what is likely to be the most pivotal game of the weekend at either end of the Premier League table. 

Here are all the big talking points heading into Matchday 36.

Capital clash 

The game of the weekend comes from The London Stadium, as West Ham host Arsenal in a London derby that will have huge ramifications, whatever the result. 

The Gunners go into it after their best week of the season, having reestablished their lead at the top of the table and made the Champions League final following their midweek exploits over Atletico Madrid. 

They'll know another win here, on a ground where they've scored 11 times on their last two visits, would put them another step closer to a first title in over two decades, whatever result Manchester City get on Saturday. 

Yet, that's not the only narrative. An away win would also put the Hammers deeper in the relegation mire, having dropped back into the bottom three following their defeat to Brentford and Spurs' back-to-back wins. 

If they do succumb to defeat and Tottenham win again on Monday, then it could be bye-bye to West Ham's top-flight status, with too much left to do in the final two fixtures.

City to kill the buzz 

After losing control at the Hill-Dickison Stadium on Monday, Manchester City are now in catch-up mode and relying on an Arsenal slip-up if they are to overtake the Gunners. 

The only thing they can do in the meantime is bounce back from the Everton draw and get back to winning ways when they face Brentford on Saturday. 

The Bees have given Pep Guardiola a headache in previous seasons and go into the game with European ambitions of their own, especially if the league placings drop further on the basis of Aston Villa winning the Europa League. 

City will want to kill any buzz Arsenal have gained this week, but might find a sting in the tale from their visitors if they aren't careful.

White Monday 

The round ends on Monday night, with Tottenham looking to end the relegation banter once and for all as the aim for three wins in a row when they host Leeds United. 

Having won back-to-back away games, Spurs now need to find a first home victory of 2026 to continue they survial bid and pull further away from West Ham in the bottom three. 

However, they come up against a Leeds side unbeaten in their last five and needing one more win to secure their own top-flight status. 

A defeat will see the nerves return to North London and bring another twist in the relegation scrap.

Nottingham Forest are not yet safe and will have to make sure there's no Europa League hangover as they host Newcastle on Sunday, knowing a win should probably get them over the line. 

Chelsea's European hopes hang by a thread following their end-of-season collapse, and things don't get any easier this weekend when they have to travel to Anfield.
