The second half of the 2025-26 Premier League season has officially kicked off, and a number of narratives jumped out above the rest from Matchweek 20's slate of games.

There were fewer draws than the previous matchday, and a marquee game to end things off.

Here are some of the bigger talking points from the weekend matches in Matchweek 20.

Arsenal pulling away

The New Year could not have started better for the Gunners, who dominated in the midweek against Aston Villa before heading to Bournemouth and claiming a 3-2 victory at Vitality Stadium on Saturday — their first win against the Cherries in three tries.

Not only has Arsenal's win streak now reached five Premier League matches, but the North London side has increased its cushion atop the standings to six points.

The Gunners keep winning while their direct rivals in the title race drop points. In Matchweek 20, four of the five teams directly below Arsenal drew their games, allowing them to create more distance for themselves.

It's far from over yet, but a few more of these kinds of matchweeks could give the Gunners their best shot at ending their 22-year league title drought.

Wolves win?!

According to the Chinese zodiac, 2026 is the year of the horse.

However, it has started off as the year of the Wolves as Wolverhampton Wanderers can finally call themselves winners.

The basement-dwelling Premier League club had become the butt of jokes as they meandered from week to week, getting beaten nearly every time out and drawing comparisons to the worst sides in history.

Then they drew 1-1 at Manchester United on Dec. 30 before beating the brakes off West Ham United on Saturday, to the tune of 3-0, to earn their first victory of the season.

It took 20 games, but they finally got rid of the zero in their win column. Now about that single-season record for fewest points...

Leeds continue to grind out results

The team with the longest active undefeated streak in the Premier League is not Arsenal or Fulham, as Leeds United has now gone seven matches without a defeat.

Their latest result is a 1-1 draw with Man United, with Brenden Aaronson scoring the lone goal against the Red Devils.

Daniel Farke's side now holds an eight-point cushion above the relegation zone, a place they were mired in for most of the season until their current run.

But while the news is positive for Farke and Leeds, five of those seven games ended as draws. The next step for the club is to find ways to earn victories so they can truly start climbing the table.
