Team News

Neither side can advance to the Round of 16 with a victory, but they will both be keen to secure full points after less-than-desirable openers. Real Madrid played to a 1-1 draw with Al Hilal to begin their campaign. The Spanish giants were denied the three points when Federico Valverde's penalty attempt in the final minute was saved. Kylian Mbappe remains sidelined due to illness and will miss Sunday's encounter.

Pachuca narrowly fell 2-1 to FC Salzburg to start their campaign. New head coach Jaime Lozano will likely once again be without the services of dynamic winger Oussama Idrissi, who suffered an injury before their opener and is doubtful to play against Los Blancos.

This contest is also a rematch of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024™ final in Doha, Qatar, during which Real Madrid defeated the Mexican side 3-0.

Bank of America Stadium

MLS expansion franchise Charlotte FC have used Bank of America Stadium as their home ground since their opening season in 2022, with their debut match drawing a crowd in excess of 70,000. The venue is well versed in hosting soccer fixtures, with a number of international and club friendlies having been held here, in addition to Concacaf Gold Cup dates and two knockout games in the 2024 Copa America. NFL outfit Carolina Panthers have called the Charlotte venue home since 1996 and it has been used for several play-off matches.
