The FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ has thus far offered a feast of fantastic football, and provided a glut of goals. Among the players rippling nets are a host of teenage superstars-in-waiting who are making their name on the world stage.
Here, FIFA counts down the top five youngest goalscorers at the global showpiece.
Plucking teen sensations from South America has been a productive line of talent for European heavyweights, and they may be on to another winner with Claudio Echeverri. Already a breakout star for River Plate, the midfielder arrived in England on the heels of compatriot Julian Alvarez, who completed a clean sweep of trophies with Pep Guardiola’s side in just two years. While Echeverri’s City career got off to a less than favourable start, with an FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace on his debut, he notched a stunning free kick against Al Ain in just his third outing in sky blue to give fans just a glimpse of his huge talent.
They might be better known for big-money transfers, but Chelsea have one of the most productive academies in world football - and Tyrique George is living proof. The Camden-born youngster has enjoyed an outstanding maiden season in the Chelsea’s first team, racking up 27 appearances, the last of which produced his third goal, a deflected strike from the edge of the area, which put the seal on a convincing win over Espérance.
Tricky winger William Gomes arrived at FC Porto with a fearsome reputation after an impressive debut campaign with Sao Paulo. The Portuguese giants have a storied history of providing a springboard for young talent from both at home and abroad, so it was unsurprising to see one of their recent recruits producing a show-stopping curling strike against Al Ahly as the world sat up and took notice.
The images of Senny Mayulu celebrating his UEFA Champions League final goal in the 5-0 rout of Internazionale last month went viral for the sheer unparalleled joy in the young Parisian’s face. Fast-forward to the Club World Cup and the 19-year old continued his scoring hot streak by providing a clinical finish in PSG’s 4-0 demolition of Atletico Madrid.
It is perhaps testament to the bountiful array of youth talent that Porto have become famous for that they hold two positions on this list. Rodrigo Mora has been attracting suitors across Europe with his performances in Liga Nos this year, and his wonderfully composed finish against Al Ahly will have done his burgeoning reputation no harm at all.
