The National League is set for its grand finale this Sunday as Boreham Wood and Rochdale do battle for the final promotion spot to the Football League.

In the fifth tier of English football, the play-offs work differently from the EFL as the teams finishing between second and seventh take part in a six-club lottery.

Boreham Wood finished the season in fourth place, meaning they had to progress through an eliminator and a semi-final to reach Wembley Stadium, while second-placed Rochdale defeated Scunthorpe United in the second semi-final.

But which clubs have tasted victory in the National League play-offs since its inauguration in the 2002-03 season? DAZN News brings you a full list of winners.

National League play-off offer

The history of the National League play-offs

The first-ever National League, then the Conference, play-off final took place between Doncaster Rovers and Dagenham & Redbridge, with the former claiming victory at what is now known as the Bet365 Stadium, the home of Stoke City.

In 2007, the event was moved to the new Wembley Stadium, where Exeter City and Morecambe battled it out for promotion, marking a significant step up for the competition.

There have been 22 different winners of the play-offs, with Grimsby Town the only side to have won it twice, doing so in 2016 and 2022.

Cambridge United and the Mariners (three) have been involved in more finals than any other side, while the U's, Solihull Moors and Luton Town have all lost on two occasions.
