Why it's a big weekend for Serie A's attacking talent

Serie A returns this weekend, where you can watch all the action from matchday seven live on DAZN, and there's plenty to look forward to. 

With just three points separating the top five in the league table, there are several key clashes where it could be the attacking players on show that could make all the difference. 

Following the international break, the round presents the ideal opportunity for several big names to make a mark, each with their own points to prove. 

Rafael Leao 

The long wait for the Portuguese's full return from injury could be over, with the forward set to deputise for the crocked Cristian Pulisic. 

Leao has become a constant contradiction during his time at the San Siro, where on his day he's as dangerous as anyone in the league, but at times lacks the consistency to move him to that next level. 

This season, under a new manager and returning from injury, feels like a fresh start and it could give Milan another attacking weapon in what has already been an impressive start. 

Sunday sees the Rossoneri entertain winless Fiorentina, and could be the perfect opportunity for Leao to net his first home goal since May 2024.

Rasmus Hojlund

The Dane has continued the trend of showing why an Old Trafford exit can do wonders for your career by getting back to goalscoring form at Napoli and for his national side. 

Since making the loan move over the summer, Hojlund has netted four goals in six outings for the Serie A champions and scored four times for his country. 

His goals and threat in attack have meant the club filled the spot left by Romelu Lukaku's injury and kept up the defence of their crown.

Evan Ferguson 

Roma have quietly shown their title ambitions this season, with only goal difference separating them from top spot in the league. 

Perhaps the only thing they are missing right now is a regular goalscorer to really cement their claim to be considered contenders, but the answer may lie within their ranks. 

Evan Ferguson moved to the club in the summer, has had a bright start to life in Rome, but now needs to find the goalscoring touch that saw him earmarked as one of the Premier League's best young strikers. 

He was on target once again for Ireland in midweek, and a goal in the weekend's standout fixture against Inter, could really set his time at Roma alight.

Jonathan David 

Juventus remain one of only two unbeaten sides in Serie A, but fans are growing frustrated at the side's inability to turn draws into wins. 

It's three draws in a row for Igor Tudor's side and some of the blame has been laid at the manager not unleashing David on Serie A defences. 

The Canadian did start in the goalless draw with Milan, but what he needs is a run in the side to get going at Juventus following the summer move. 

If he can find his explosive goalscoring touch, the Old Lady could be the team to watch.

Ange-Yoan Bonny

Inter have bounced back following a stuttering start, and while much of the upturn in form has been due to the return of Lautaro Martinez, it's their other attacker who could propel them back into full title contention. 

Bonny was involved in all four goals during the victory over Cremonese last time out, providing three assists and netting the other, and cushioned the blow of losing Marcus Thuram through injury. 

With both Bonny and Martinez in form and ready to show their striking credentials against Roma, Inter could make a massive statement in the capital.

Jamie Vardy 

We're all still waiting for the next chapter in football's favourite fairytale, but concerns are starting to grow that it's a page too far for the former England man.

Vardy came to Cremonese without a proper pre-season, and so there was always going to be a settling-in period, but now, having had another break after the internationals, could this be the weekend we see another one of those moments from the Leicester legend?

All eyes will be on Monday's visit from Udinese to see if he's fit and ready to go.
